Rara Lake Trekking

Soft walking adventure to the queen of lakes – Rara Lake Trekking

Trek to Rara Lake, the queen of lakes that lies in the west wilderness of Nepal is truly the most fascinating off the beaten trek in Nepal. This trek that treads the remote trails of western mid-hills caters authentic rural culture, which manifest close proximity to nomadic lifestyle.

After the sightseeing tour of cultural sites in Kathmandu, the journey for the Rara Lake takes off the flight that takes you to the lowland airport in Nepalgunj. A short scenic flight to Jumla, that takes us to the gateway for most of the treks in Wild West Nepal is a thrilling and scenic air journey trekkers enjoy during the Rara Lake Trek.

Traversing through the remote trails and medium altitude passes, the trek arrives at Sinja Valley. The amazing valley that manifests the traditional culture of “Khas” tribe in Nepal is the proposed UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the valley that originated the Nepali “Khas” language and continue your trek towards Rara Lake. The similar trail through the low alpine woodlands comprising pines and junipers finally leads us to the Queen of Lakes, Rara. Behold the beauty of Rara and the floral diversity ringing this spectacularly beautiful lake. A day hike to Chuchumara Hilltop caters the magnificence of Himalayan panorama and the exceptionally beautiful valley landscapes. After all the memorable days of walk, the trek exits out to Nepalgunj from where we fly back to Kathmandu.

Rara lake trek is organized on full board basis and at places, home-stays are available. Unaffected by the quake 2015, trekking to Rara Lake can be a wonderful escapade in Nepal’s Wild West mid-hill.
