Festivals

Festivals are the reflection of Nepalese culture, values and religion. Nepal is a small country with the ethnic diversity and harmony among the people who celebrate their festivals according to their own ethnic class. We are rich in cultures and festivals, temples, god and goddesses. Festivals are simply celebrated to keep alive memories of events that happened in past and to honor god and goddess. Festivals in Nepal are celebrated as the entertainment or seasonal activities or special occasions. There are more than 50 festivals celebrated in different time and seasons which are listed below:

April: Bisket Jatra, Nepali New Year (Naya Barsha), Mata Tirtha Aaushi (Mother’s Day)
May: Red machhendranath Rath Jatra, Buddha Jayanti
July: Harishyani Akadashi, Guru Purnima, Ghantakarna Chaturdashi, Gunla
Aug: Naag Panchami, Janai Purnima, Gai Jatra
Sep: Krishna Janmastami, Gokarna Aaunsi (Father’s Day), Teej, Indra Jatra
Oct: Bada Dashain (Biggest Festival of Nepal), Mani Rimdu
Nov: Tihar, Haribodhini Ekadashi
Dec: Bala Chatur Dashi, Vibhaha Panchami, Yomari Punhi
Jan: Sweta machhendranath Snan, Poush Sukla Purnima (Swasthani), Maghe Sankranti, Lhosar (Tibetan New Year)
Feb: Shree panchami
March: Shivaratri, Fagu Purnima (Holi)
