An unorthodox trekking adventure in Everest that has everything to cater of the fascinating Khumbu Region
An offbeat approach that takes you close to Everest and flanking 8000m plus peaks, Gokyo Valley Trek is a great trekking holiday in Everest to explore relatively less trodden trails and less explored villages of Khumbu. The Gokyo Valley Trek begins at Lukla after the short scenic flight from Kathmandu.
Gokyo Valley Trek chases the same trail of Everest Base Camp Trek until Namche. Beyond Namche, the trail deviates towards relatively peaceful trails. Via Sherpa hamlets like Dole and Machhermo, the trek ends up at Gokyo. However, there are so many destinations around Gokyo Valley for a trekker to explore. As the trek cross passes through first and second lakes of Gokyo and arrives to the third lake for the overnight stay, trekkers have an advantage on the edge to hike up to Gokyo Ri for the fascinating views of Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu and Mount Shisapangma among others. Moreover, the hike to the fifth lake from the teahouse in Gokyo highlights exceptional view of Ngozumpa Glacier, which is the longest glacier in Nepal.
Gokyo Valley trek is a moderate trek in Everest Region, that has authentic Sherpa culture, the walking fun through pleasant woodlands of Sagarmatha National Park and the great diversity of floral and faunal species.
Enjoy a holiday in the offbeat region of Everest and take a taste of trekking in Nepal’s alpine regions.
