Langtang region lies north of Kathmandu valley. The Himalayan valley is dominated by Langtang Lirung (7,245 m) was the third major hub for trekkers before the quakes 2015. People living in the area have their unique sense of culture authenticity. The spectacular views of rhododendron and bamboo forests, majestic waterfalls, snowcapped peaks ringing elevated cultural valleys can be the sights of a lifetime that travelers get to see while exploring the region.
The mix of culture, beautiful snowcapped mountains and diversely pleasant climatic conditions makes the place one of the famous trekking destinations of Nepal. Mid September to mid December and spring March to May, are the best time to undertake the treks in Langtang.
The area consists of variety of climatic zone, from alpine to subtropical, housing thick forest of Oak, Maple, evergreen Pine and variety of Rhododendron. And Himalayan black bear, Himalayan tahr, Rhesus monkey and Red panda are some of the unique wildlife found in this region. The valley has more than 70 glaciers of varies sizes and high altitude lakes like Gosainkunda, Parvati Kunda, Bhairav Kunda and Dudhkunda, which are the highlights of the journey.
The quakes 2015 have made the devastation in the region resulting the loss of hundreds human lives and millions worth infrastructures. However, the joint effort of government and private tourism stakeholders and the natives of Langtang will soon make this place a traveler’s paradise.
